Have you heard the old saying "you get what you pay for"? What you get, at Satin Stitches, is incredible quality. Quality in sewing workmanship, yes, but also in patternmaking to create sizes that really fit, and fabulous styling, with thought given to how each costume looks from the side and back-BESIDES the front, and styling that is TIMELESS!
We realize that not everyone is looking for quality. But quality is what you get, with every solo or group performance costume, at Satin Stitches. We have been creating custom performance costumes for nearly 35 years. We have been creating fabulous dance team uniforms for 30 years.
Satin Stitches is a small CUSTOM-ONLY manufacturer, located in suburban Minneapolis, where we don’t simply ‘customize’. Everything is uniquely created for each of our clients.
I founded the company, back in 1978, and my passion is to create costumes that fit EVERYONE in a performance group. Our costumes are patterned so that proportionately, every outfit looks the same, whether you are petite, tall and gangly, endowed with a very womanly shape, or you are built like a linebacker, yet excel at dance, cheer, or singing in a show choir.
If you are a part of the team or choir, you deserve to have a costume that fits you. Nothing is worse than seeing a group member swimming in a costume, or wearing a costume that is 2 sizes too small.
I also LOVE to see really old Satin Stitches' costumes that are still being worn beautifully, even after decades! YES - we build them to LAST. We also build them to be timeless.
Here is an example that just recently came to my attention. I received my copy of the 31st Annual Lindbergh Yvonne Cole Invitational Dance Team Competition program. I paged through the program to find my ad (love to see how it looks!) and I found a photo of the Highland HS Varsity squad, wearing Satin Stitches uniforms, originally created for their team in 1997. They had originally ordered long-sleeved jumpsuits. They had us transform them into dresses in the year 2000. We did.
No other changes were made to these stylish, long-lasting uniforms! As confirmed with this photo from the competition program, they are still wearing these Satin Stitches’ dresses in 2011, and they still look great!
What a valuable investment for the Highland HS dance team!
It just shows that not all costumes and uniforms for performance teams are ‘throw-away’ costumes, in today’s ‘throw-away’ society. And YES, all of our Satin Stitches’ performance costumes are MADE IN THE USA. How about what your team or choir is wearing? Can you say the same?
